What does a live saxophonist do at an event?

He plays live over the music that is already there, usually a DJ set. The DJ builds the night and the saxophone answers it, improvised, following the floor.

As early as you can for a summer Saturday. For any other date, ask even if it is close.

Less than most people expect: the saxophone plays through the sound system that is already there.

Common questions

Can a saxophonist play with any DJ?

Yes. Live saxophone over a DJ set works with any DJ and any sound system that has a free input. The DJ plays the set they planned and the saxophone follows it live, improvised, so nothing about the programme has to change. A short sound check before doors is all it takes.

How long does a live saxophonist play at an event?

Usually one to three live sets across the evening, each placed where the night needs it: the arrival, the golden hour outdoors, the moment the floor fills. The number and timing of the sets are agreed with you and the DJ beforehand and adjusted on the night if the room asks for it.

Do I need to provide a sound system?

Only what is already there. The saxophone plays through the DJ's or the venue's system, so a free input, a little space near the DJ and power nearby are enough; he brings the saxophone and the microphone. Without a DJ or a system, book the sax-and-DJ format, which covers the sound as one act.

Does Josax play outside Vienna?

Yes. Vienna is home, and he plays across Austria and Europe: beach clubs, charter decks and destination events, ten countries so far. Travel is arranged around the booking, so say where the event is and you get a straight answer on what is possible.

What happens after I send an inquiry?

You get a personal reply from Jovan with what is possible on your date and a quote for the format you want. Once you confirm, the date is held. The details, such as set times, arrival and the sound check, are settled with you and the DJ closer to the day, usually over WhatsApp.

I read every inquiry myself and reply personally. I play as Josax from Vienna, and I travel: ten countries so far, from beach clubs in Greece to charter decks on the Adriatic. Tell me the date and the room, and I will tell you honestly what would work best that night.
